AmyLynne-What an amazing little 7 year old girl

On June 26, 2007 AmyLynne was diagnosed with a kidney cancer known as Wilm's Tumor. She completed 6 months of chemo and on Dec. 27, 2007 was declared cancer free. Thank you to all of you for your prayers and support during that time.

On August 25, 2008 she went in for a routine CT scan. The doctor found a new tumor in her left lung. She did chemo for 4 months and then had surgery on her lungs to remove residual tumor. They gave us pictures and they were uuugggllly. Then AmyLynne went to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City for Christmas and a stem cell transplant. After the fastest recovery EVER she was back home once more cancer free and waiting for her immune system to recover.

On July 14, 2009 we were told that AmyLynne had a new tumor in her abdomen. So, here she goes again. Third time's the charm.

Sept. 21, 2009 a CT scan showed growth in the tumor in spite of chemo. Just in time the radiation oncologist says he can get rid of it once and for all with radiation. Radiation ends October 21, 2009.

After enjoying the holidays, AmyLynne started to complain of a tummyache. On January 22, 2010 a ct scan showed the tumor back, and back to its original size. She went in for surgery on Jan. 28, to remove the tumor, and everything around it, including 4 ribs. Besides removing the tumor the goal of the surgeon was to have clean margins. It was close with tumor within 1mm of the margin but the margins were ALL CLEAN! After 10 days in the hospital, AmyLynne returned home with a promise to skip PE and recess for a month. She goes in to the Elks Wound Center everyday for treatment in an Hyperbaric Oxygen chamber which will help her heal from the surgery. She should finish those mid-March.

February 25, 2010 the dr finds five new tumors in AmyLynne's right lung. We prepare for the worst but hope for the best. She starts an experimental antibody to try and shrink or stop the growth of the tumors. March 9th we head to Disneyland for a week and have the time of our lives. She continues the antibody for 12 weeks until on May 26th scans show disease progression. The plan now is buy time with radiation and let her live well the time she has.

Raven Jeffords

A few people who have looked at my blog have asked me what made me start this foundation and why I have chosen to help children with cancer raise money and help try to stop child abuse. So I decided I would put my one of my biggest inspirations up to help answer their questions.

Well one of my biggest inspirations is Raven Elizabeth Jeffords. Raven born May 28,1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She started her schooling at Jackling Elementary in West Valley City, Utah and then attended Sunny Ridge Elementary in Nampa, Idaho. Raven Attended Skyview High School her freshman year and then completed online classes while recovering from her bone marrow transplant. Raven had leukemia and fought hard for years. She was a friend of mine and also went to my church. Raven was the kind of person who just made you want to be a better person and live life to its fullest and be thankful for what you had. She went thru so much pain and years of battling her cancer and never once gave up or complained. She passed away May 2, 2009 a few weeks before her 17th birthday. It's been almost a year since she passed away and i miss her so much but when i got to raise money for the hospital in Boise St. Lukes children cancer unit MISTI i felt like she was right there beside me and I even went caroling there this Christmas and will the next with my choir and it reminds me of when I got to go there and see Raven. She was a great example to me and after seeing first hand someone loose a fight against cancer at a young age I really want to try and help. Thank you Raven for being such a great example to me and for everything you taught me. Make a Wish Foundation helped make one her dreams come true by sending her and her family to Florida to swim with dolphins I hope to one day help people complete their dreams as well.

An Inspirational little boy

Grant Davis was born June 12, 2002. He arrived three months early and weighed just 2 pounds, 4 ounces. After his birth, he spent three months in the hospital.Grant’s health problems—premature birth, gastric reflux disease, periventricular leukomalacia, chronic lung disease, and cerebral palsy. As a result of his cerebral palsy, which has affected both legs and one arm, Grant cannot stand nor walk. Grant is an energetic seven-year-old boy and would love to have the ability to do what he sees his sisters and other children doing; he just wants to be a "normal" kid. I had the chance to get to help raise money for his new wheelchair so we could help his dream to be a "normal" kid come true and it was an awesome experience! Grant loves football so i called some of my friends from my high school team to come and meet Grant and you could just see how heppy Grant was. Grant taught me so many things. He is truely an inspiration to me and such a strong willed and sweet little boy and i was very blessed to get to know him, he is an amazing little boy and a true hero in my eyes! Change for Haiti

Just like Carrie Underwood's new song called Change says "Whatcha gonna do with the 36 cents sticky with coke on your floor board" well me and some of my friends put together this fundraiser called Change for Haiti and I truely realized that "The smallest thing can make all the difference" heres the story of how buckets of change helped hundreds of people. A teacher at my high school adopted a little boy from Haiti about 5 years ago and when they heard about the earth quake that hit Haiti and the orphanage where he was actually from was effected he wanted to help so we got together and started Change for Haiti and we filled up over 24 3 gallon buckets full of change and cash so we are in the process of getting it counted so we can give it to the orphanage and try to help the best we can even though we live thousands of miles away. We also collected over 373 pairs of jeans from baby to men all different sizes and we donated them to Aeropstale and they actually sent all of them to Haiti for free so that the people there can have some clothes.

What is Project Children Smile?

Project Children Smile is a foundation that I started to help people. I've raised over $30,000 for St. Lukes Children Cancer Unit in Boise called Mistys and recently I just got done with Change for Haiti and a Jean Drive for Haiti with Aeropostal. Project Children Smile is more than just a goal or a dream to me. I hope one day that i can help millions of people everywhere. I plan to get my social work degree from BYU-I after I graduate high school. When i grow up I want to change people's life and honestly make the world a better place. I want to help the abused kids find a home and see what its like to have a loving long lasting family. It breaks my heart to hear about kids being abused and how someone could actually be afriad to go home. I also want to raise money for children with cancer every child should get the chance of a long happy life and my other goal is to help the homeless it doesnt matter why they are homeless they need a helping hand and i want to be there to help them. i care about people and i want to make it a better place♥ I'm only 16 years old right now but eventually my goal is to raise money for the children and people who have suffered from abuse and help them restart their lives, raise money for children with cancer, life threatning or any need children who need help, and to try to help out the homeless. If you know know of anyone who need help with raising money for treatments, or even if you want to help or be a part of Project Children Smile just leave a comment and i'll be happy to help. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Sincerly Shaylee Hatch.
