A few people who have looked at my blog have asked me what made me start this foundation and why I have chosen to help children with cancer raise money and help try to stop child abuse. So I decided I would put my one of my biggest inspirations up to help answer their questions.
Well one of my biggest inspirations is Raven Elizabeth Jeffords. Raven born May 28,1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She started her schooling at Jackling Elementary in West Valley City, Utah and then attended Sunny Ridge Elementary in Nampa, Idaho. Raven Attended Skyview High School her freshman year and then completed online classes while recovering from her bone marrow transplant. Raven had leukemia and fought hard for years. She was a friend of mine and also went to my church. Raven was the kind of person who just made you want to be a better person and live life to its fullest and be thankful for what you had. She went thru so much pain and years of battling her cancer and never once gave up or complained. She passed away May 2, 2009 a few weeks before her 17th birthday. It's been almost a year since she passed away and i miss her so much but when i got to raise money for the hospital in Boise St. Lukes children cancer unit MISTI i felt like she was right there beside me and I even went caroling there this Christmas and will the next with my choir and it reminds me of when I got to go there and see Raven. She was a great example to me and after seeing first hand someone loose a fight against cancer at a young age I really want to try and help. Thank you Raven for being such a great example to me and for everything you taught me. Make a Wish Foundation helped make one her dreams come true by sending her and her family to Florida to swim with dolphins I hope to one day help people complete their dreams as well.
